We have 2 ways to help you get calender information into Smartphones.
- -- The PDF Creator
- -- An iCal link for subscriptions via Google iCalenders or Microsoft Outlook 2007.
The links to instruction detail are supplied to current users of Call Scheduler within the application; only summary "FYI" information is listed here.
1. ...The PDF Creator
| What will it do: |
|
- The provider can create a pre-filtered calender view PDF of the calender within Microsoft Internet Explorer that is then saved to the desktop and uploaded to the Smartphone.
|
| What it will not do: |
|
- This view will not automatically refresh when changes are made to the calender.
|
| Software/Hardware requirements: |
|
- The Smartphone must have the appropriate Adobe Acrobat Reader already installed on it to be able to read the PDF.
- You must be using a current Internet web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0.

2. ...The iCalendering subscription link
| What will it do: |
|
- iCal is a Beta* version of calendering format. An Internet Calendar Subscription (iCal) is a calendar link that you subscribe to and view in Microsoft Outlook and various on-line iCal calenders such as Google's Calenders. Internet Calendar Subscriptions are periodically synchronized automatically according to the timing you specify in the Microsoft Outlook or Google application. To use these Internet calendars, the provider subscribes to them and configures Microsoft Outlook or Google iCal to query the Call Scheduler site for updates via the Subscription link.
- In General, the provider uses the Call Scheduler application to create a link within Call Scheduler that is then used to subscribe to the Call-Scheduler calender. The iCal format potentially allows a provider to create more than one subscription link, so one link could contain info regarding him, and another reflect the rest of the team.
|
| What it will not do: |
|
- It does not track the exact start-stop time of individual jobs on individual days, but displays the overall weekly start-stop time as set in the job description.
- Subscription links can be created regarding team members, but not certain jobs.
|
| Software/Hardware requirements: |
|
- Once the iCal link set up for Google or Microsoft Outlook iCalenders, there is the potential to get the iCalenders into various Smartphones such as BlackBerry and those using the Microsoft OS. Please refer to the individual Smartphones' manual, and also Google and Microsoft Outlook2007 Help manuals for information and instructions.
- Users of Google iCal report the best results. Some users are trying subscribing via Microsoft Outlook 2007 with various success.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook 2007 and or Google iCalenders is required.

* Beta stage of software development defined:
Each major version of a product usually goes through a stage when new features are added, (the Alpha stage); and a stage when it is being actively debugged, ( the Beta stage).
When a Beta version becomes available to the general public, it is often widely used by the technologically savvy and those familiar with previous versions as though it were the finished product. However, Beta is actually in a programming development stage where all features may not be complete or work as consistantly as expected by the general public.
